Databases are probably the most prevalent computer application. Nearly every business does now or will in the near future employ databases to store critical information. The data stored in these databases is accessed and updated using database management systems such as Access. This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of the basic use of Access. The student will also gain a fundamental understanding of the design of databases and will be able to employ this knowledge to design and create databases in Access.

Dr. Roussos is a Professor of Computer Science and has been at Lynchburg College since 1981. He formerly served as Director of College Computing Services and Chair of the Computer Science Department. Dr. Roussos received a B.A. degree in mathematics from Old Dominion University, an M.S. degree in mathematics from the College of William and Mary, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Virginia.
