An image of the cover of the text for this course

A computerized speadsheet is probably the most versatile of all computer applications. Although its primary purpose is to perform multiple simultaneous computations, Excel also has components that enable it to perform word processing, manage databases and display graphical information in a useful, albeit limited manner. This course will follow the text closely but will also incorporate interesting and useful spreadsheet applications found in everyday life as supplemental material. The student will gain proficiency in applying speadsheets to many areas through intensive, hands-on exercises.

The instructor holds a strong belief that in today's world computer applications are most useful when utilized in the context of a networked computing environment. The student will be expected to become proficient working in a networked environment utilyzing electronic mail, personal storage space on a network server and resources available on the internet.
