Creating Your Website on Erin
In this course module you will create your own website using your erin server account.
- First download the template html document from http://cs-netlab-01.lynchburg.edu/courses/internet/template.htm
- Next we will make a copy of template.htm and call it index.htm
- Using HTML Assistant or an ordinary editor like Notepad or WordPad change the title of the document to indicate that it is your home page. You may, instead, make this the home page of some hypothetical business or organization. Please note that no real businesses are allowed to have web pages on campus. The title should be changed in two places.
- Next, put some content into the body of the document and save your work to a diskette.
- Check out the new page by opening a browser and opening the file index.htm.
- FTP the file, index.htm, to your erin server account and put it into the PUBLIC/CS115 subdirectory.
- Access the file using a web browser by connecting to http://erin.lynchburg.edu/YourUserName/public/cs115/
