You have homework and project assignments that should be completed before the first test on 
Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 as these topics will likely be covered on the test.

These assignments include using ftp, knowing good and bad web practices and creating html
documents.

   The test will cover all material that we have covered in class.  This includes the 
following topics.
Test 1 Content

Define an HTML document (i.e., create a skeleton html document)
    Head and Body (for ex.)

Understand the relationship between web server, client, browser, other servers (like sql server).
Show the process of requesting data from an sql server via a web page.

HTML tags and how to use them properly
    HR, textual changes incl font
    color definitions, names and RRGGBB format
    special chars normally begin with &#ddd; or &<mnemonic>;

Lists - use all kinds of lists, use the most appropriate
   unordered lists <ul>
   ordered lists <ol>
   definition lists <dl><dt><dd><li>
   directory lists <dir><li>

Forms incl. mailto:
    controls
    What is purpose of forms - collect info. from the user and send it to a program
    What is purpose and characteristics of each control

Frames - how to define (bottom, top, left and right)
    Know when use is appropriate

Links
    local and remote
    relative addressing

Cascading Style Sheets and the style tag
    attributes, syntax, functions
    redefinition of standard tags
    tag classes

Images
    image maps
